Clowns Without Borders visits Foyer Evangelique Orphanage!

Dear friends of Foyer Evangelique Orphanage,

As you may remember, one of our board members, Chris Yerlig, is a professional mime and clown. He has been in Haiti for the past 2 weeks with two other performers, Camilla Rud of Sweden and Naomi Shafer of Brattleboro’s own New England Youth Theatre on a Clowns Without Borders tour. They visited our orphanage on December 26 and brought some joy and smiles to the kids and staff. Here are a few photos that I thought you’d enjoy:

What is that furry creature in Camilla’s hand? Stacey looks a bit concerned...

Lunyara makes a connection with Naomi!

Chris poses after the show with his sponsored child Ritha and Pastor Duckens.

The Clowns Without Borders tour is over, however Chris has extended his stay in Haiti. Next week he will return to OFEU with aerialist/dancer Christie Cahill (former New England Center for Circus Arts student), for a week of teaching and performing with the kids. Their goal is to work with the kids to put together a show that the kids will perform for other children and families in their community. I’ll be sure to send you more photos of this amazing performance project! Christie Cahill has been a supporter and volunteer for HOST since she came to Brattleboro as a NECCA student in 2014, and we are so glad that she is finally able to make the journey to the orphanage to share her love and talents with the kids!

We wish you all a very Happy New Year!

Warmly,

Sheila

On behalf of the board of the Haiti Orphanage Sponsorship Trust and the children and staff of Foyer Evangelique Orphanage
